My first lines of code came from the Source Engine level editor, then from Raspberry Pi and Arduino projects, which explains the taste for tools and for things that run on real hardware.

From there the road went up through desktop software, C, Java and C++, before turning to the web and staying there for a long time. Enough web to stop thinking in pages and start thinking in whole architectures : data model, API, deployment, and what happens the day traffic doubles.

Then came the parts that are not code. Monitoring, backups that actually get restored, incident response, and running a small team, reviewing their work and unblocking them.

The current step is language models and machine learning : training and serving models, tracking experiments, detecting drift, and building tools that use them without pretending they are magic.

Alongside all of it, level design, 3D modelling, reverse engineering of game formats and self-hosting never stopped. They are where most of the low level knowledge came from, and they still feed the rest.
